The 2024 Recommended Budget includes a tax rate increase of 8.9%. The budget reflects rising personnel and benefit costs, increased liability/property insurance rate increases, and the operation of paramedic services.
In 2024, a new budget transparency tool was created for the 2024 Budget Book - stay tuned for the 2025 budget!
The City of Kingston is utilizing a new platform, Clear Gov, for the City budget to increase transparency. The 2024 Adopted Budget was the first to be available on the new platform, which gives residents a different view, with charts and graphs that may be more user friendly for the average citizen deciphering a $50M budget. Using this new technology, residents now have more than one option to review the City budget.
