100th Anniversary

by rad,

Ron Woods, who has served on the Kingston Recreation Commission for over 50 years and is the author of two books on our city's parks, recently shared that Dietz celebrates is 100th Anniversary this year.

The Stadium is named after Kingston resident and Battalion Leader Sgt. Robert H. Dietz, who was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Harry S. Truman. Sgt. Dietz also received the Bronze Star, Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, and five combat medals from France and England.

In April 2021, the Kingston Recreation Commission unanimously voted to change the name of the entrance sign to read, " Sgt. Robert H. Dietz Memorial Stadium-Medal of Honor."

For Memorial Day this year, the Dietz monument that is located at the stadium entrance has been decorated with a red, white and blue wreath; American flags; flowers and a solar light. Residents and visitors are invited to stop by to remember Sgt. Dietz and his contributions to our country.
