The City of Kingston is pleased to announce the launch of the second of its DRI Stockade Business District Small Grant Programs, the Business Façade Improvement Grant Program!
The Business Façade Improvement Program will provide grants of up to $20,000 each to property or business owners seeking to make improvements to the façade of a commercial property building in the Uptown Stockade Business District of Kingston. This area is bounded by the Esopus Creek and Route I-587 to the north and east, St. James Street to the south, and Washington Avenue and Dietz Stadium to the west. View boundary map here. Applicants who are unsure if their business falls within this map should email oed@co.ulster.ny.us with the business name and address for confirmation.
Business Façade Improvements Program funds are available for the correction of blighting conditions such as peeling paint, boarded up windows or windows in poor condition; signage; replacement of missing historic elements; and modification or removal of inappropriate alterations. Projects and expenses are determined on an individual basis to ensure that they meet the goals of Business Façade Improvement Program and Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Program.
The Stockade Business District Small Grants Program is supported through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) as administered by NYS Department of State. The Stockade Business District Small Grants Program is administered by NYS Homes and Community Renewal.
Award Amount:
Grant Award Maximum: $20,000
Grant Award Minimum: $10,000
Match Requirement
Awardees must contribute a minimum of 25% of the project total.
Commercial property owners, small business owners, and non-profits within the Stockade District boundary are welcome to apply. Religious institutions, private membership-based organizations and municipalities are not eligible for this grant opportunity.
