Kingston businesses have been hit incredibly hard by the pandemic. Between keeping up with evolving health and safety protocols, protecting employees and customers, and pivoting to new service concepts, owners have faced serious strains throughout the Covid-19 crisis.
The City of Kingston supports our local businesses and wants to help in their recovery efforts!
In June 2020, we released a survey asking residents and businesses about their interest in an open streets concept, which would use parking spaces for outdoor dining and retail, and/or use other public spaces for business expansion. We received an overwhelmingly positive response from the public, and the restaurants and shops who participated in the program created truly special, unique spaces.
The City is now considering renewing the Outdoor Dining & Retail Program on April 1, weather permitting. We'd like to hear from businesses and the public about this possibility—would you like to see the program revived this spring? What new ideas do you have that might improve the program?
Please take either the Business Owner or Resident survey below to weigh in!
Surveys close on Friday, March 5th.
