Treacherous Intersection for Pedestrians and Cyclists

In this area, I have almost been hit by cars numerous times--on foot and on bike, as well as alone and with small children.

The most egregious and terrifying instance happened when I was walking and pushing a stroller across Broadway towards the YMCA. I had the right of way, but a car turning left from Pine onto Broadway did not slow down to turn and nearly ran into me and my child while we were in the middle of the crosswalk. \I had to sprint to avoid being hit.

I have also nearly been hit by cars multiple times after cycling across Broadway while turning onto Grand via the Prince/Grand transition. Cars often zip right through the stop sign in an effort to either 1) make the light or 2) beat the traffic on Grand and move into the right-hand turn lane (heading W on Broadway).

I only cross the road when I have the right of way and am careful to use hand signals when cycling, yet I dread crossing every part of this intersection (whether with my small children or alone). When with my children, we always walk our bikes through the intersection, but we can only run so fast to avoid cars... I feel lucky to have avoided being hit.
